The Balykchi-Karakol-Balykchi highway reconstruction project has been approved by almost all donors. This was reported by the Ministry of Transport and Roads.
According to the ministry, the total cost of restoring the highway around Issyk-Kul is $128 million.
The project was approved by OPEC, the Saudi Fund for Development, and the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development. Confirmation of funding from the Abu Dhabi Development Fund is expected.
"As of today, domestic procedures for the ratification of the loan agreement with the Saudi Fund for Development have been completed. Work is underway on comments to the loan agreement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic with the Islamic Development Bank", the Ministry of Transport stressed.
