In public procurement, priority will be given to local companies. This is a step aimed to support local producers.

“Recent changes to the law of the Kyrgyz Republic concerning public procurement will allow for more opportunities to be offered to local producers. Most goods and services will be purchased in our country and will not be ordered from abroad. Earlier, the lion’s share of goods was imported. However, today, the local producers will be in a more advantageous position”, Kubatbek Boronov noted.

The Prime Minister drew the attention of the meeting to the fact that almost 70% of funds allocated for public procurement went overseas.

The annual volume of government procurement is 60-70 billion soms. Only 30% of this awarded to local companies. It should be the other way around. Foreign companies should be attracted only if domestic companies cannot provide the required service or labor. We are aiming to change the situation in public procurement, concluded the head of government.

Kubatbek Boronov set out a task to conduct a complete analysis of the public procurement system, considering in detail the mechanisms of improving and developing the transparency of public procurement procedures.
