On January 12, Avazbek Atakhanov, Charge d'affaires of the Kyrgyz Republic in Qatar, stressed the need to develop strategic cooperation in the field of cargo transportation and transit through southern Iranian ports. This is reported by the Iranian news agency IRNA.

Atakhanov said this at a meeting with the managing director of the Iranian Port and Maritime Organization, Mohammad Rastad.

During the meeting, it was noted that the transit of goods through the Iranian southern ports to the Sarakhs border in the north-eastern Iranian province of Razavi Khorasan, and then to Kyrgyzstan, is of paramount importance in connection with the closure of the common border of the Kyrgyz Republic with China.

Atakhanov further expressed the hope that this opportunity will be used to the maximum benefit for both countries.

Meanwhile, Rastad said that Iran is ready to operate its ports, maritime and training facilities in accordance with mutual benefits and interests.
